Krabi Town Shopping

Krabi Town is located just upstream from the nearby beach tourism areas, yet its far enough away to have that local, cultural town feel about it. The local arts, crafts, and artifacts are perhaps more reasonably priced also, so it's worth a little shopping spree. The "Walking Street Market" that runs on weekends between around 5pm-10pm is a great place to hang out for an hour or two, with good food and local entertainment. Larger branded stores and nice restaurants complete the shopping and dining experience. 

Krabi Cuisine

Krabi Town has a fun mix of nice indoor restaurants and cheap, tasty outdoor food courts where you can pick up delicious seafood dishes for great prices. Naturally, the night markets offer superb varieties of local and national favorite food and drink options. It's so nice to be strolling around with a fresh fruit juice blend in one hand and a small Thai snack in the other. Over by the river each night from around 5pm, the local culinary atmosphere really warms up with all kinds of rich smells and sounds - it's great!

Khao Khanab Landmark

The distinctive Krabi landmark, the "Khao Khanab" mountains are worth a picture or two. Standing at around a hundred metres tall, they are like two city guardians watching over the river that runs through Krabi Town. You can take a boat right up to these limestone rockfaces where you'll find little pathways through stalactite and stalacmite rich caves, led by a local tour guide. It's actually possible to climb one of the rockfaces. While there, also check out the local Ko Klang fishing village and see some traditional local craftwork in action.

River Walking

One of the great things about Krabi Town is that it's not on the sea, it's by a nice river, with a great footpath running right alongside it that makes for a fantastic riverside walk. Passing through Thara Park with its little Thai alphabet letters for the kids, the pathway runs past little Thai fruit stands, a marina port, and up towards the Khao Kanab mountains and food court. You'll pass by some interesting sculptures which include an eagle and a "Krabi" crab family its an enjoyable walk complete with photo opportunities.
