From Phuket to Koh Phangan by minivan/bus + ferry
There is no direct way to Phangan island from Phuket. You need to take a bus or a minivan to reach the pier, then hop on a ferry to Koh Phangan’s pier “Thong Sala Pier”.
From Phuket’s airport to Thong Sala Pier
You can book our private taxi or minivan to take you from Phuket’s airport to Blue Canyon. There, you can take another minivan or a bus to reach Tapee Pier in Surat Thani town. From there you will start your ferry trip to Thong Sala Pier in Koh Phangan. It is a joint-ticket for the whole trip.
From Phuket Town to Thong Sala Pier
If you’re at or near Phuket town this route is for you. You will take the bus from Phuket town “Vichit” to start your ride to Tapee Pier in Surat Thani. And from Surat Thani’s pier, you’ll get on a ferry to take you straight to Koh Phangan. This ticket is also a joint-ticket bus + ferry.
From Phuket New Bus Station to Thong Sala Pier
In this route, the bus will take you from Phuket New Bus Station to Donsak Pier near Surat Thani. This trip will take X hrs which is less than the previous routes.
Then you will take the ferry from the pier reaching Thong Sala Pier.
This is also a joint-ticket.
Best time to visit
The calmest period falls between April and June. It is a great time to visit with affordable lodging and safer road conditions. The best time to visit the island is during December to March, when the water is high, clean and good for swimming.
