Surat Thani is a marvelous place and there are many ways a traveler could use to reach it. One of those ways is by plane, Surat Thani has an international airport with flights coming in and out daily. Another way to get to Surat Thani is by train, as it has a fully equipped train station, trains depart every day heading to and coming from many destinations like Bangkok, Trang, and Phatthalung and stopping at various places along the way like Chumphon, Hua Hin, and Nakhon Si Thammarat among more. Surat Thani also has 3 bus stations that have many rides to and from a big selection of places including Hat Yai, Krabi, Chumphon, Phuket and more. Last but not least is boat transportation, many piers in islands around the province offer amazing boat trips to Surat Thani like Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao.

Surat Thani literally translates to the city of good people which is a testament to its locals. It usually works as a gateway to the islands of Thailand’s Gulf Coast including Koh Phangan, Koh Tao, and Koh Samui. However, it has many interesting places to visit from religious sights to national parks and amazing nature, it’s all really worth your visit.

Surat Thani Town City Pillar Shrine

City Pillar Shrine
This is described by some people as one of the most beautiful sights they have ever seen in Thailand. It is one of the great religious places in Surat Thani. It is located at Mueang Surat Thani district 84000. The shrine has ceremonies celebrating the spirit of Surat Thani which is believed by locals to live within. You could even buy the candles, incense, and flowers for the ceremony. You might even be lucky to witness a Thai wedding photoshoot.

Surat Thani Town Chaiya National Museum

The museum consists of 2 buildings containing historic and prehistoric artifacts. The artifacts usually displayed in the museum are from the eras of Ayutthaya, Sukhothai, Dvaravati and Lop Buri. The museum has plenty of English explanations to offer and a huge collection of amazing and historical statues and artifacts that will blow you away. It’s also a great way to get to know the culture more and grasp a deeper understanding of the history of Thailand.

Surat Thani Town Ang Thong National Park

Ang Thong National Park
Ang Thong National Park is a marvelous archipelago that consists of more than 42 islands in Southern Thailand’s central coast. There are many trips to the park which are all very recommended, as you get to sail around the gorgeous panorama of all the breathtaking islands. The park has many species of wildlife including fish, birds and amphibians. Admission to the park is granted by paying an entrance fee of around 300 Baht for adults. 

Surat Thani Town The Night Market

The Night Market
This lively small night market in Surat Thani is all you will need if you are interested in taking a food tour. The market is filled with all the melt in your mouth treats you could find like marinated meats on sticks, noodle dishes, desserts along with nice and fresh fruit juice.
