Getting to Nakhon Si Thammarat airport is as easy as drinking a glass of water! This picturesque airport is located 14 kilometers from the city town in Nakhon Si Thammarat, and 12 kilometers from the train station. Reaching the airport from the town is easy by taxi or private car, but if you are coming from a further city like Sichon, Krabi, Surat Thani among others, a bus is a low-priced option.

Nakhon Si Thammarat airport is the main airport in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province which has been operating domestic flights from/to Bangkok since 1998. Just a few kilometers from the airport you can travel to the past and immerse in an old Thailand by just visiting the City Wall. This famous red-brick cross all over Nakhon Si Thammarat and it has been renovated throughout the years. All its remains are the memories of the Ayuttana Dynasty. A walk around the wall can transport you instantly to the 18th century when Nakhon Si Thammarat was known as ¨Ligor¨. The Old city wall nowadays is the place of many celebrations, concerts, and night markets.

If you arrive early to Nakhon Si Thammarat Airport you better do a tour in the Shadow Play House. Even though it is 8 Kilometres from the airport, this is one of the main attractions in Nakhon Si Thammarat. Suchart Subsin was the creator of this museum with his family, and it narrates Thais stories interpreted by puppets made of buffalo leather. The museum presents a puppets exhibition and private show where you can also see and learn the magic behind this performance for only 50 baht.

As many other cities in Thailand, Nakhon Si Thammarat own magnificent temples, one of the closest one to the airport is Nakhon Si Thammarat City Pillar Shrine. This white shrine was finished building in 1989 and comprise 5 buildings, all of them presenting a Srivijayan architecture. The middle building is called City Pillar and the four others surrounding it are better known as satellite buildings. Besides being a place to worship and pray, this is also a representation for a rich history and culture.

This museum is a must-stop for those travelers who are interested in knowing more about the history and culture in Thailand. The national museum of Nakhon Si Thammarat is located at 6km from the airport. It was opened in 1972, exposing all the utensil and craftwork coming from Nakhon Si Thammarat province, including a section which gathered all the prehistoric artifacts. The museum also has a national library which stocks up a big collection of books that can be used by the students.
