How to get from Koh Yao Yai to Koh Jum

Koh Jum

Koh Yao Yai to Koh Jum Ferry

Traveling from Koh Yao Yai to Koh Jum links two of the quieter islands in Krabi's Andaman Sea, connecting the fishing-village pace of Koh Yao Yai with the laid-back, jungle-backed shoreline of Koh Jum (also known locally as Koh Pu). The crossing is popular with travellers who are island-hopping between Phang Nga Bay and the Krabi–Koh Lanta coastline without routing back through the mainland. If you're planning the return leg, see the Koh Jum to Koh Yao Yai ferry schedule for departure times and fares in the opposite direction.

Seasonal Service

This route does not run year-round. Boats operate during January to May and November to December, which covers the calmer sea conditions of the Andaman dry season. Outside these months, sea conditions between Koh Yao Yai and Koh Jum make direct sailings unreliable, and operators suspend the route. If you're searching outside the active season, plan to travel via Krabi's mainland piers instead — most connections to Koh Jum and Koh Yao Yai continue from Ao Nammao Pier or Krabi Town Pier year-round, even when the direct island-to-island boat is paused. Check the booking calendar on this page before confirming any other travel plans around this crossing.

Transport Modes and Operators

The route is served by Bundhaya Speed Boat, running a speed boat between the two islands. This keeps the crossing direct, avoiding a longer transfer through Krabi Town or Ao Nammao Pier, which are the usual mainland gateways for boats continuing on to Koh Lanta, Koh Phi Phi, and Phuket. Onboard facilities include onboard facilities, and life jackets are provided as standard on Andaman inter-island services.

Journey Duration, Frequency and Price

The crossing takes around the scheduled journey time, with 2 scheduled during the operating season. Fares start from ฿1,200 per person; exact pricing can vary by operator, boat type, and how far in advance you book, so use the live fares shown on this page rather than a fixed figure. Seats are limited on smaller boats serving this route, so booking ahead is recommended in peak months and around Thai public holidays.

Departure and Arrival Points

Boats depart from Koh Yao Yai on Koh Yao Yai and arrive at Koh Jum on Koh Jum. Both piers are close to the main village areas on each island, making onward transfers to guesthouses, resorts, or connecting longtail boats straightforward. Travellers continuing further along the coast can pick up onward connections toward Koh Lanta or Koh Phi Phi from nearby Krabi piers, or head north toward Koh Yao Noi and Phuket.

Booking Your Crossing

Luggage space is limited on the smaller boats used for this crossing, so pack light and keep valuables and travel documents with you rather than in the hold. Confirm your pickup point on Koh Yao Yai when booking, as some tickets include hotel transfer while others require you to reach the pier independently. Book your Koh Yao Yai to Koh Jum ferry ticket now to lock in your seat and travel date, and check the reverse-route schedule above if you're also planning your journey back.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to print my ferry ticket or is mobile ok?

You don't need to print your ticket. Your boarding voucher is in your account: open Bookings, then View trip details, and click Download PDF. On the day of travel, show the QR code on it — on your phone is fine — to the ferry operator staff at the pier named on your ticket, and they will direct you to your boat.

If you'd prefer paper, print the PDF yourself.

What happens if my ferry is cancelled due to weather?

We are sorry when weather stops a sailing. Ferries usually run in rain; speedboats are more often stopped by rough seas.

If your trip is cancelled because of weather, your booking in Bookings shows a message once our team has confirmed the cancellation. You can then either move to the next available service with Change this booking, or cancel with Cancel & refund for a full refund.

If the sailing is running but you choose not to travel, the normal cancellation policy applies.

Why is my account locked?

We lock an account for a short time after several failed sign-in attempts in a row. It is an automatic safety measure: it stops someone else guessing your password, and it happens whether or not the person typing was you.

You do not need to contact us. The lock lifts on its own — see How long am I locked out for?

What is the difference between a locked and a blocked account?

Locked is automatic and temporary. It happens after repeated failed sign-in attempts and it lifts by itself — within a minute in most cases.

Blocked is a decision made by our team, and it does not lift on its own. If your account is blocked you will need to contact us; waiting will not change it, and neither will resetting your password.

If you are not sure which applies to you, get in touch and we will tell you.

How do I unlock my account now?

Wait, and try again. Every lock lifts on its own — a minute the first time, and never more than an hour however many attempts have failed. There is nothing to click and nobody to contact.

If you have forgotten your password, do not keep guessing: each wrong attempt makes the next wait longer. Use Forgot password instead. Resetting your password gets you straight back in.

My account locked but I never tried to sign in

Then someone else was trying to sign in as you, and the lock did its job — it stopped them.

Your account is safe: a lock means the attempts failed. Nobody got in. You do not have to do anything, and the lock will lift on its own.

We would still recommend two things:

  • Change your password, especially if you use the same one on another website.
  • Add an authenticator app in your account security settings, so a password alone is never enough to sign in as you.

If you get these repeatedly, contact us and we will look into it.
