Things to do — Tao Island
All of Tao Island →- John-Suwan Viewpoint Attraction The rocky headland at Koh Tao's southern tip, looking down on the twin bays of Chalok Baan Kao and Thian Ok.
- Ao Leuk, Koh Tao Attraction A small south-east bay with a sandy entry and a reef close in - the island's easiest snorkelling from the beach.
- Chalok Baan Kao, Koh Tao Attraction The island's third village, on a sheltered southern bay - quieter than Sairee, with its own beach and restaurants.
- Freedom Beach, Koh Tao Attraction A small sheltered beach at the island's southern end, below the John-Suwan viewpoint.
- Hin Wong Bay, Koh Tao Attraction A boulder-strewn bay on the quiet east coast, with clear water and almost no sand.
- Koh Nang Yuan, Koh Tao Attraction Three granite islets joined by a triple sandbar off Koh Tao's north-west coast - the most photographed view in the Gulf of...
- Laem Thian, Koh Tao Attraction A remote east-coast cape with a tiny cove and the ruins of an abandoned resort.
- Love Koh Tao Viewpoint Attraction A ridge lookout in the island's interior, on the same high ground as the Tanote and Sairee viewpoints.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to print my ferry ticket or is mobile ok?
You don't need to print your ticket. Your boarding voucher is in your account: open Bookings, then View trip details, and click Download PDF. On the day of travel, show the QR code on it — on your phone is fine — to the ferry operator staff at the pier named on your ticket, and they will direct you to your boat.
If you'd prefer paper, print the PDF yourself.
What happens if my ferry is cancelled due to weather?
We are sorry when weather stops a sailing. Ferries usually run in rain; speedboats are more often stopped by rough seas.
If your trip is cancelled because of weather, your booking in Bookings shows a message once our team has confirmed the cancellation. You can then either move to the next available service with Change this booking, or cancel with Cancel & refund for a full refund.
If the sailing is running but you choose not to travel, the normal cancellation policy applies.
Should I travel on the same day as my flight?
If you would like to book trips on the same day as your arrival or departure flight, you should make sure you have enough time to catch your trips. Re-arrange land transfer by a private taxi from/to the airport is the recommended option.
What are the tourist seasons ?
Phuket
Phuket really just has two seasons, which are known as "high season" and "low season" (or "green season"). During the low season months (May–September), boat numbers are reduced. During the high season (October–April), boats to the surrounding islands are increased so you will have some more options.
Koh Samui
There are three distinct weather seasons on the tropical island of Koh Samui: the dry season (December until February), the hot season (March until August) and the rainy season (September until November).
