Koh Yao Noi Information

Yao Noi island is a piece of heaven, this beautiful island can take your breath away! About Koh Yao Noi

Koh Yao Noi Information

About Koh Yao Noi

Koh Yao Noi is located in the middle of Phang Nga Bay with its sister Koh Yao Yai. Because of the programs offered by the island's local residents, like the eco-friendly homestay program, the island was received the World Legacy Award from National Geographic Traveler magazine and from Conservation International in 2002. This award was one of the main reasons why the island started to gain worldwide attention. Even though the development of Yao Noi island is accelerating, the island remains quiet and far different from the crowds of Phuket.

The island sits roughly midway between Phuket and Krabi, which makes it an easy addition to an Andaman itinerary rather than a detour. Days here are slow: rubber plantations, rice fields, small fishing villages and long views out to the limestone karsts that Phang Nga Bay is known for.

How to get to Koh Yao Noi

Koh Yao Noi is reached by boat, and the crossing is short compared with most island hops in the region. Our booking system currently lists 67 routes bookable routes serving the island, so you can usually match a departure to the rest of your travel day rather than building the day around the boat.

Fares start from ฿400, and exact departure times, journey durations and vehicle types are shown live on each route's page once you enter your travel date. Availability changes by season, so it is worth checking your date directly.

Operators serving the island

Operators serving Koh Yao Noi include Bundhaya Speed Boat, Green Planet and Koh Yao Sun Smile, alongside other companies working the Phang Nga Bay and Andaman corridors. Each operator sets its own schedule, luggage rules and boarding times, and these are displayed with the ticket details from several operators when you select a departure.

Ports and piers

Arrivals and departures on the island use its local piers, and the pier you are assigned depends on the operator and the direction of travel. Because a few different landing points are in use, check the pier name printed on your ticket rather than assuming a single terminal, and allow extra time if your accommodation is on the opposite side of the island.

On the mainland and neighbouring island side, boats connect through the piers used by the wider Phang Nga Bay and Andaman networks. The specific departure and arrival pier for your booking is confirmed at checkout.

Popular routes to and from Koh Yao Noi

The island connects to Ao Nang, Koh Jum, Koh Lanta, Koh Lipe, Koh Ngai and Koh Phi Phi, plus four more destinations across the Andaman coast.

  • Koh Yao Noi to Koh Phi Phi — a common next stop for travellers heading south through the bay.
  • Koh Yao Noi to Ao Nang — the usual link towards Krabi and its onward bus and minivan connections.
  • Koh Yao Noi to Koh Lanta — often combined with a stop at Koh Jum on the way.
  • Koh Yao Noi to Koh Ngai — the gateway to the Trang islands.
  • Koh Yao Noi to Koh Lipe — the longest of the island hops, running towards the far south near the Malaysian border.

Each route page lists live departures, prices and operators for your chosen date.

Onward transport connections

Once you are back on the mainland, the island's boat routes tie into the wider land network of buses, minivans and private transfers running along the Andaman coast. Travellers heading to an airport, a bus terminal or a further-south destination generally book the boat leg first and add the land leg for the same day.

If you are working out a multi-stop trip, compare the options for nearby hubs such as ferries and transfers from Ao Nang or boat routes serving Koh Lanta before you lock in your dates.

Practical travel information

A few things worth knowing before you travel:

  • Arrive at the pier well ahead of the stated departure time; operators close boarding before departure.
  • Boat services in the Andaman are weather-dependent, and schedules thin out during the monsoon months.
  • The island is small and mostly explored by scooter or on foot, so pack light where you can.
  • Bring cash — facilities are limited compared with Phuket or Krabi town.
  • Check the cancellation and change conditions shown with your ticket before you confirm the booking.

What to see and do

Most visitors come for the quiet. Kayaking among the karsts of Phang Nga Bay, cycling the island's flat inland roads, viewpoint walks and day trips to nearby beaches and smaller islands are the main draws. The homestay tradition that earned the island its World Legacy Award is still part of how visitors stay here, and it remains a good way to see village life rather than resort life.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What are the tourist seasons ?

Phuket

Phuket really just has two seasons, which are known as "high season" and "low season" (or "green season"). During the low season months (May–September), boat numbers are reduced. During the high season (October–April), boats to the surrounding islands are increased so you will have some more options.

Koh Samui

There are three distinct weather seasons on the tropical island of Koh Samui: the dry season (December until February), the hot season (March until August) and the rainy season (September until November).

How do I unlock my account now?

Wait, and try again. Every lock lifts on its own — a minute the first time, and never more than an hour however many attempts have failed. There is nothing to click and nobody to contact.

If you have forgotten your password, do not keep guessing: each wrong attempt makes the next wait longer. Use Forgot password instead. Resetting your password gets you straight back in.

What is the difference between a locked and a blocked account?

Locked is automatic and temporary. It happens after repeated failed sign-in attempts and it lifts by itself — within a minute in most cases.

Blocked is a decision made by our team, and it does not lift on its own. If your account is blocked you will need to contact us; waiting will not change it, and neither will resetting your password.

If you are not sure which applies to you, get in touch and we will tell you.

How long am I locked out for?

The first lock is one minute. If sign-in keeps failing after that, each further lock lasts longer:

  • 1st lock — 1 minute
  • 2nd lock — 5 minutes
  • 3rd lock — 15 minutes
  • 4th lock and after — 1 hour

An hour is the longest you will ever be locked out. You get five attempts before the first lock, and as soon as you sign in successfully everything resets — the next time you mistype, you start again at one minute.

My account locked but I never tried to sign in

Then someone else was trying to sign in as you, and the lock did its job — it stopped them.

Your account is safe: a lock means the attempts failed. Nobody got in. You do not have to do anything, and the lock will lift on its own.

We would still recommend two things:

  • Change your password, especially if you use the same one on another website.
  • Add an authenticator app in your account security settings, so a password alone is never enough to sign in as you.

If you get these repeatedly, contact us and we will look into it.

Why is my account locked?

We lock an account for a short time after several failed sign-in attempts in a row. It is an automatic safety measure: it stops someone else guessing your password, and it happens whether or not the person typing was you.

You do not need to contact us. The lock lifts on its own — see How long am I locked out for?
