Trip Information

Surat Thani Airport (URT) is about 20km west of the city centre. The actual collection point is the Ferry Counter. It is easy to find, but for your own assurance you can ask at the airport information desk or give us a call once at the airport.

Once collected, the bus trip duration is approximately 1 hour 45 minutes. As the bus reaches the pier, you'll be shown to your ferry boat by the ferry operational staff. It's a simple and hassle-free process all the way. Just be sure to print out your e-ticket that we provide you with, and hand it to the staff when requested.

Bus: Surat Thani Airport - Donsak Pier

Ferry: Donsak Pier - Nathon Pier

Nathon Pier is Samui Island's main ferry port and serves as the key arrival/departure point for Samui travelers. Situated in the northwest of Samui, tourists will be able to find trips from Nathon Pier to any of the amazing surrounding islands such as Koh Phangan and the local dive capital, Koh Tao.

Nathon Pier itself is a really sturdy passenger zone, which is able to accommodate the hundreds of people hopping on and off ferries at any given time. Many times per day, great big car ferries dock and depart with ease, as well as the multiple ocean-going tour and transfer ferries and boats.

Local facilities are good; you will find a variety of hotels, banks, restaurants, tour desks and shops just over the road past the pier entrance. Taxi's will be awaiting you with eager anticipation but be aware that although they may have meters, they will not likely be using them and it is wise to haggle them down to a more reasonable price than is first quoted! The road system's a bit weird with it's slightly crazy-mazy system, so be prepared and go easy if you're ready to hire a vehicle and go it alone!

Ferry: Nathon Pier - Thong Sala Pier

Thong Sala Pier is the kind of perfectly functional island pier you'd expect an island-to-island ferry to arrive at. Located on the southwest of Koh Phangan, it's just 45 minutes away from Koh Samui. You'll notice the island's forested-mountainous terrain as you draw near. All of our FerrySamui.com ferries will arrive here, and the docking procedure is about as straightforward as it gets. Stepping off the boat, you'll find a gaggle of taxi drivers and tour merchants, but don't panic. The fares are pretty standard, it's 100-150 Thai Baht to the infamous Ban Had Rin, for example. Maybe you can grab a barbequed corn-on-the-cob for the ride!

Thong Sala itself is the main town of Koh Phangan, and as such, you'll find some banks, currency exchangers, local pubs, and a nice few restaurants. Many backpackers will stay around here for a night or two because it's a nice place, its close to the pier, and it's the absolute best connecting point to anywhere else on the island - yep, all roads lead to Thong Sala. There's a nice fresh food market that's open mornings and evenings, plus you might even get to see a bit of Thai boxing in one of the stadiums if you're lucky. Renting a motorcycle here for your stay is quite easy unless of course it's "Full Moon Party" time, but please be careful on these 'island' roads!
