Krabi town is the closest city to the island (Koh), the ferry departs from Klong Jirad Pier and it takes 90 minutes to arrive at Koh Phi Phi Don’s pier (Koh Phi Phi Tonsay Pier). On the other hand, trips from/to Phuket take around 2 hours.

Koh Phi Phi Information
Koh Phi Phi at a glance
Koh Phi Phi is an archipelago surrounded by marvelous natural sceneries, beaches composed by turquoise water and white sand, tropical fauna and flora and famous limestones that make this island the perfect picture for a postal card. It’s formed by six beaches, being Koh Phi Phi Don (Tonsay Pier) the mainland, and five secluded islands ready to explore. Koh Phi Phi is the ideal destination to discover the Andaman coast and enjoy some of its outdoors activities and parties on the beach.
Because the islands sit between the mainland and the southern Andaman island chain, Koh Phi Phi works equally well as a short stop or as the base for a longer island-hopping trip. Travellers usually arrive by water, spend a few days on the beaches and dive sites, then continue south or back to the coast.
How to get to Koh Phi Phi
There are no roads to the archipelago, so every journey ends with a sea crossing. Services run to and from the mainland coast as well as directly between neighbouring islands, and combined tickets let you join a land leg to a sea leg on a single booking.
Our booking system currently lists 141 routes bookable routes touching Koh Phi Phi, with fares from ฿350. Because departure times, crossing durations and vehicle types change with the season and the weather, always check the live results for your travel date rather than relying on a published timetable.
Ports and arrival points
The main arrival and departure point on the archipelago is Tonsay Pier on Koh Phi Phi Don, the largest island and the one where almost all accommodation, restaurants and tour desks are found. The pier sits within walking distance of the village centre, so most travellers can reach their hotel on foot or by longtail boat for the more remote bays.
On the mainland side and on neighbouring islands, crossings use the local piers and beach landings served by each operator. Some smaller island stops use tender boats or beach transfers instead of a fixed pier, so pack accordingly and expect to carry your luggage a short distance.
Popular routes and connections
Koh Phi Phi connects to Ao Nang, Koh Bulon, Koh Jum, Koh Kradan, Koh Lanta, Koh Lipe and 12 more destinations.
- Koh Phi Phi to Ao Nang — a mainland link that puts you within reach of the wider Krabi coast.
- Koh Phi Phi to Koh Lanta — one of the most-travelled hops for visitors heading south at an easy pace.
- Koh Phi Phi to Koh Lipe — the long southern run towards the Malaysian border, often booked as a through ticket.
- Koh Phi Phi to Koh Jum and Koh Kradan — quieter island stops for travellers who want fewer crowds.
- Koh Phi Phi to Koh Bulon — a far-south option usually combined with other island calls.
Operators serving the archipelago include Andaman Wave Master, Ao Nang Travel and Tour Co.,Ltd. and Bundhaya Speed Boat, alongside others shown in the live search. Comparing several operators against the alternatives on your date is the quickest way to see the trade-off between price and departure time.
Practical travel information
A few points make the trip smoother:
- Arrive early. Piers are busy at peak departure times, and check-in usually closes before the scheduled departure.
- Travel light where you can. Boarding often involves steps, ramps or a short walk along the pier, and luggage is stowed separately.
- Book ahead in high season. Popular island crossings sell out on busy dates, and booking online secures your seat before you arrive.
- Check the conditions on your ticket. Baggage allowance, changes and cancellation terms differ by operator and are shown with each result.
- Allow buffer time for onward travel. Sea crossings can be delayed by weather, so avoid booking a tight connection to a flight on the same day.
- Bring cash and sun protection. Some pier fees and small vendors are cash-only, and much of the journey is spent in open sun.
The archipelago has no airport of its own, so air travellers connect via the mainland and finish the trip by sea.
What to see and do
The draw here is the water. Snorkelling and diving over reefs, kayaking beneath the limestone cliffs and longtail boat trips around the five secluded islands fill most itineraries. Viewpoint walks on Koh Phi Phi Don repay the climb with a look across the twin bays, and the beaches on the smaller islands stay quiet outside day-trip hours.
In the evening, the village near Tonsay Pier is the centre of the island's well-known beach party scene, while the outlying bays stay calm — worth knowing when you choose where to stay.

Frequently asked questions
What are the tourist seasons ?
Phuket
Phuket really just has two seasons, which are known as "high season" and "low season" (or "green season"). During the low season months (May–September), boat numbers are reduced. During the high season (October–April), boats to the surrounding islands are increased so you will have some more options.
Koh Samui
There are three distinct weather seasons on the tropical island of Koh Samui: the dry season (December until February), the hot season (March until August) and the rainy season (September until November).
How do I unlock my account now?
Wait, and try again. Every lock lifts on its own — a minute the first time, and never more than an hour however many attempts have failed. There is nothing to click and nobody to contact.
If you have forgotten your password, do not keep guessing: each wrong attempt makes the next wait longer. Use Forgot password instead. Resetting your password gets you straight back in.
What is the difference between a locked and a blocked account?
Locked is automatic and temporary. It happens after repeated failed sign-in attempts and it lifts by itself — within a minute in most cases.
Blocked is a decision made by our team, and it does not lift on its own. If your account is blocked you will need to contact us; waiting will not change it, and neither will resetting your password.
If you are not sure which applies to you, get in touch and we will tell you.
How long am I locked out for?
The first lock is one minute. If sign-in keeps failing after that, each further lock lasts longer:
- 1st lock — 1 minute
- 2nd lock — 5 minutes
- 3rd lock — 15 minutes
- 4th lock and after — 1 hour
An hour is the longest you will ever be locked out. You get five attempts before the first lock, and as soon as you sign in successfully everything resets — the next time you mistype, you start again at one minute.
My account locked but I never tried to sign in
Then someone else was trying to sign in as you, and the lock did its job — it stopped them.
Your account is safe: a lock means the attempts failed. Nobody got in. You do not have to do anything, and the lock will lift on its own.
We would still recommend two things:
- Change your password, especially if you use the same one on another website.
- Add an authenticator app in your account security settings, so a password alone is never enough to sign in as you.
If you get these repeatedly, contact us and we will look into it.
Why is my account locked?
We lock an account for a short time after several failed sign-in attempts in a row. It is an automatic safety measure: it stops someone else guessing your password, and it happens whether or not the person typing was you.
You do not need to contact us. The lock lifts on its own — see How long am I locked out for?
