About Pattaya

Pattaya Information

Pattaya at a glance

Pattaya is popular for its crazy and wild nights, it seems impossible to think that once this city was a calm fishing village, now it is the second biggest city in Thailand and the home to many Go-go bars, international restaurants, night clubs, big buildings, and shopping malls, still it has the charm of a Thailand city with beautiful beaches, incredible temples and a lot of activities to enjoy during your leisure time. Bustled and touristic, It's impossible to get bored here!

For travellers, that mix makes Pattaya a useful base as well as a stop in its own right. It sits on Thailand's eastern Gulf coast, within easy reach of Bangkok, and it links onward to the islands further east — so many visitors treat it as one leg of a longer trip rather than a final stop.

Getting to and from Pattaya

There are currently 7 routes bookable routes connecting Pattaya on this site, with fares from ฿900. Availability, departure times and journey lengths vary by day and by operator, so the search results show the live timetable for your travel date rather than a fixed schedule.

Booking online means your seat is confirmed before you arrive, which matters most in high season and around Thai public holidays, when popular departures fill early.

Popular routes from Pattaya

The connections available from Pattaya run east along the Gulf coast to two of Thailand's best-known islands:

  • Pattaya to Koh Chang — the largest island in the Trat archipelago, known for its forested interior, waterfalls and long west-coast beaches.
  • Pattaya to Koh Kood — further south and quieter, with clear water and a slower, more low-key atmosphere.

Both journeys are also bookable in the return direction, so you can plan an island trip and your way back in a single session. If you are island-hopping, check the Koh Chang travel guide and the Koh Kood travel guide for onward links between the islands themselves.

Operators serving Pattaya

Services on these routes are run by Boonsiri High Speed Ferries and Seudamgo, alongside any other providers listed as Boonsiri High Speed Ferries and Seudamgo in your search results. Each operator sets its own vehicle type, luggage allowance and check-in requirements, so the details shown on the booking page for your chosen departure take priority over any general description here.

Departure and arrival points

Trips to and from Pattaya are sold as a through journey to the island, and the exact pick-up point in Pattaya is confirmed on your ticket. Because operators use different meeting points around the city — and some offer hotel or central pick-up while others use a fixed terminal — always read the pick-up details in your booking confirmation instead of assuming a single station serves every service.

On the island side, arrivals use the pier served by your operator. Piers on Koh Chang and Koh Kood are spread along the coast, so it is worth checking which one your ticket lists before arranging onward transport or a hotel transfer.

If any pick-up point, pier name or meeting time on your confirmation looks unclear, contact the operator before your travel date rather than guessing.

Practical travel information

  • Arrive early. Operators usually ask passengers to check in ahead of departure; the required window is shown during booking.
  • Travel light where you can. Luggage rules differ between providers, and oversized or extra bags may be charged separately.
  • Watch the weather. Sea conditions on the Gulf can affect island crossings, particularly outside the dry season. Operators may adjust or cancel sailings for safety.
  • Keep your booking accessible. Have your confirmation on your phone or printed, along with the photo ID used at booking.
  • Check cancellation terms. Change and refund conditions are set by the operator and are displayed before you pay.

Peak demand runs through the cooler, drier months and over major holiday weekends. Outside those periods you will usually find more choice of departure times.

What to see and do in Pattaya

Beyond the nightlife it is best known for, the city rewards a day or two of exploring. The beachfront is the obvious starting point, with calmer stretches south of the centre and busier sands closer to the main strip.

Temples and viewpoints give a very different side of the same city, and the shopping malls are a reliable escape from the midday heat. Markets, seafood restaurants and international dining cover most budgets, and there is enough to fill the gap comfortably if you have an afternoon before an early-morning island departure.

Many travellers build a short stay here into a longer eastern Thailand itinerary — a couple of nights in Pattaya, then straight on to the islands.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What are the tourist seasons ?

Phuket

Phuket really just has two seasons, which are known as "high season" and "low season" (or "green season"). During the low season months (May–September), boat numbers are reduced. During the high season (October–April), boats to the surrounding islands are increased so you will have some more options.

Koh Samui

There are three distinct weather seasons on the tropical island of Koh Samui: the dry season (December until February), the hot season (March until August) and the rainy season (September until November).

How do I unlock my account now?

Wait, and try again. Every lock lifts on its own — a minute the first time, and never more than an hour however many attempts have failed. There is nothing to click and nobody to contact.

If you have forgotten your password, do not keep guessing: each wrong attempt makes the next wait longer. Use Forgot password instead. Resetting your password gets you straight back in.

What is the difference between a locked and a blocked account?

Locked is automatic and temporary. It happens after repeated failed sign-in attempts and it lifts by itself — within a minute in most cases.

Blocked is a decision made by our team, and it does not lift on its own. If your account is blocked you will need to contact us; waiting will not change it, and neither will resetting your password.

If you are not sure which applies to you, get in touch and we will tell you.

How long am I locked out for?

The first lock is one minute. If sign-in keeps failing after that, each further lock lasts longer:

  • 1st lock — 1 minute
  • 2nd lock — 5 minutes
  • 3rd lock — 15 minutes
  • 4th lock and after — 1 hour

An hour is the longest you will ever be locked out. You get five attempts before the first lock, and as soon as you sign in successfully everything resets — the next time you mistype, you start again at one minute.

My account locked but I never tried to sign in

Then someone else was trying to sign in as you, and the lock did its job — it stopped them.

Your account is safe: a lock means the attempts failed. Nobody got in. You do not have to do anything, and the lock will lift on its own.

We would still recommend two things:

  • Change your password, especially if you use the same one on another website.
  • Add an authenticator app in your account security settings, so a password alone is never enough to sign in as you.

If you get these repeatedly, contact us and we will look into it.

Why is my account locked?

We lock an account for a short time after several failed sign-in attempts in a row. It is an automatic safety measure: it stops someone else guessing your password, and it happens whether or not the person typing was you.

You do not need to contact us. The lock lifts on its own — see How long am I locked out for?
